Exploring our connection to food.
SNACK is a nonprofit organization founded in Ann Arbor, MI by chefs that want to help feed and educate their community. Our goals include working with local organizations to provide culinary techniques, recipes, organization and nutrition to those in need. We have created various free meal programs and kits to give to individuals that will benefit from these programs. These kits along with recipes, shopping lists, nutritional info and video tutorials hope to inspire our community to improve their own nutritional quality and continue their education through our programs. SNACK will assist in creating inexpensive and filling meals without sacrificing taste, nutrition or quality.
Chef Louis Goral
SNACK is a grassroots organization created in 2023. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Chef Louis Goral began creating the Free Meal Program which provided free meals to laid off workers in Washtenaw County. He also teamed up with Food Gatherers and Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels to support local prepared food delivery services throughout the COVID-19 shutdowns. As the world began to reopen, he wanted to continue his efforts to fight food insecurity. By building upon relationships with local volunteers, nonprofit organizations and farms, SNACK was conceived.
SNACK (Supporting Nutrition and Culinary Knowledge) is a nonprofit organization developed by a team of volunteers with expertise in culinary arts and nutrition. The growing organization has begun creating culinary-based programs with established nonprofits including Food Gatherers Community Kitchen and Project Healthy Schools.
